On a dreary winter day, it was a rare treat to spot this little vermilion flycatcher in my backyard. I saw him yesterday (but didn't have my camera on me) and had to look up what type of bird he was as I'd never seen one so striking in our area before. Fortunately, the little guy decided to come back and hunt for bugs from our compost pile this morning so I was able to get a few shots.

gorgeous, grace!
Thanks, Nikki!
How cool! I love brightly colored birds. The red cardinals around here are stunning! Now if I could figure out a way to snap a pic before they move off ;) These are all great, I love the first one...great composition and i love the subtle greens in the back :) nice work my friend :)
Thank you, Ninali. We don't have many brightly colored birds around here aside from humming birds so this guy was fun to see! Lucky for me I happened to have my nephew's 75-300mm lens at the house so I didn't have to scare the bird away. Unfortunately, the lens doesn't have IS and I didn't want to waste time getting my tripod so the images are blurry but he was so beautiful I had to share.
